I just can’t stop playing around with these rulers, and feathered wreaths are an easy “centerpiece” to frame with different designs that are based on framework that is easily created using rulers. Here’s a photo of one I made earlier this week:
I’m going to do a blog post next week that shows a step-by-step process of how I created the quilting that came after the ruler work, but Ernie and I finally shot a video tutorial that shows you just how easy it is to do ruler work if you are a sit-down quilter, and it’s the ruler work that was done on this small wall hanging that’s shown on this video. If you thought only long arm quilters using a frame system could do this kind of ruler work, you are in for some exciting times! You can do this on your home sewing machine as long as you have a ruler foot and use rulers/templates that are at least 1/4 inch thick. Wow is all I can say. I am a long way from ever been able to do anything close to this but I get goosebumps when I see your work. Wish I lived around you so I could perhaps take live classes with you.

This really helps to clarify what you’ve been up to for using rulers on a domestic machine for FMQ. I’m totally amazed and inspired and want to create. I think the possibilities will be endless.

What a great video! I’ve been playing on my domestic with my rulers as well. Since I am a Longarm quilter there is a slight learning curve but I’m having fun.

That was so amazing, I have been trying to use my rulers on my machine, but have some trouble with holing the ruler and moving the material. I think I am pushing down to hard on ruler. I will have to keep trying and play with it. Thanks for the video I learnrd a lot can’t wait for the next one! I also have been playing with my embroidery designs. My question on the embroidery do you put any stabilizer in your center designs!

Patsy, what are the little squares on the backsides of the rulers? I presume it’s something to give the rulers some “stickability”?
